As Triad-area lacrosse grows, so too does the Triad Blackhawks summer program.  This summer. the Blackhawks program served a record 300+ lacrosse players of all ages and experience levels in their regular summer program.  In addition, several highlights emerged from this summer that made it arguably the best summer in Blackhawks history, including:

  • The Blackhawks had 25 youth and high school players who had never played before, and 62 youth and high school players who had played but for only a year or less.  Almost 2/3 of all youth and high school players had 2 or less years of playing experience.  This relative lack of experience allowed our coaches to have more of an impact on the development of these players.
  • The general consensus among the coaches was that this summer’s players were the most committed and coachable players ever seen in our program.
  • Attendance at practices, scrimmages, and position clinics was at record levels.
  • Fourteen of our coaches had the benefit of having played lacrosse in college.
  • Our high school players came from 27 different high schools.

  • We fielded competitive U13, U15, and High School teams in our annual scrimmages against the Carolina Hilltoppers under the lights at NC Central University in Durham.
  • We played three competitive scrimmages against the Alamance War Dogs on Thursday evenings at Northeast Park in Kernersville.  An estimated 30 players got to experience their first off-season outside competition in these scrimmages.

  • We hosted our own K-Vegas Classic, ultimately outwitting challenging weather to give every player in our high school program and all of our U11 and older youth players an opportunity to participate, without cost, in tournament play.
  • We fielded 3 competitive teams in the Summer Meltdown, with our Apache team comprised substantially of undergraduates; our Bravo team comprised mostly of U15 players; and our U13 team playing with half its roster containing U11-eligible players.  Twenty-two players experienced their first-ever tournament competition.

Attendance at Position Clinics was Impressive!
